Mono Ethanol Amine (MEA)

Mono ethanol amine (MEA), a slightly yellowish to colorless liquid with a distinct amine odor, exhibits low viscosity at standard temperatures and is readily soluble in water, alcohols, and some organic solvents. MEA also has the ability to absorb moisture from the air.

Applications:

Acid Gas Absorption in Petrochemical and Refining Processes: MEA is used as an absorbent for removing acid gases like carbon dioxide (CO2) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) from gas mixtures.
