OBM FLC

OBM FLC (Oil-Based Mud Fluid Loss Control) refers to additives and techniques used in oil-based muds (OBM) to prevent the loss of fluid to the rocks and walls of the well.

This fluid loss, commonly known as filtration, can lead to increased operational costs and instability of the well. OBM FLC additives typically consist of polymers, resins, or specific chemicals that increase the viscosity of the mud or create a protective coating on the well walls.

These materials are used either separately or in combination with other additives such as viscosity reversers, base materials, and emulsifiers. This substance meets NISOC standards and is generally used to control the leakage of the liquid phase in oil-based mud. Overall, the use of OBM FLC, by reducing risks associated with fluid loss filtration, can contribute to enhancing well stability, reducing overall operational costs, and optimizing drilling operations.
